Letter To America!

You are a part of the problem if you are not paying attention. You did not believe me. When the man who now claims the right to live in the White House and to use the Oval Office as his own told you he was going to bring about change and hope. But he didn’t explain what that meant.

You didn’t believe me when I told you that Obama’s change meant communism. Many argued with me saying that he was only a liberal, not really a communist. Some in trying to show their erudition pointed out that he was progressive. None of his supporters wanted to publicly admit that they supported an avowed Marxist as their president.

You didn’t believe me when I described his promise of hope as the despair we would all feel as our money, our property and our freedoms slid into the cesspool that is socialism. And now here we are.

When I said, he will nationalize our industries, you pooh-poohed the very thought of it. He has now taken over the automobile industry, the banking industry, portions of the insurance industry and is well on track to completely nationalizing the entire insurance industry in the name of improving the nation’s health care system.

You called me insulting names when I said he hated America and intended to destroy it so that he and his buddies could rebuild it in the image of the Soviet Union. You didn’t believe me when I said his mentor, Saul Alinsky, taught a young Obama about de-constructing society, industry and a nation. You refused to accept his very own words promising to do just that. You called me an alarmist - a reactionary - and right wing lunatic.

You didn’t believe me when I said that spending hundreds of billions of dollars would not bring the nation out of a recession if the money were spent by the government on government programs. You said that Obama was right. We could spend our way back to wealth

When I warned you that the government would borrow more money from China and other nations, you laughed. When I predicted the Federal Reserve would needlessly and carelessly print dollars which could not be backed by any hard commodity or valuable wealth, you said I didn’t understand economics.

Barack Obama has kept his promises to you. He is on the verge of bankrupting the nation.

When I complained about his plan to close the prison facility at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, you said it needed to be closed. When I said George W. Bush was wrong in not moving those Islamofascists through the military tribunals as quickly as possible, you complained that we would be denying those poor Muslims basic human rights to which every American is entitled.

You didn’t believe me when I said that Obama would surrender in Iraq and that he would pander to the Iranians putting all Americans in grave danger. You blamed the war on George W. Bush, accusing him and DickChaney of plotting, financing and masterminding the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon.

When I said that Obama would become a dictator over America, you laughed. You said it can never happen here. You even claimed that the constitution would prevent it. And when I said he hates the constitution and will not obey it. You said, "Impossible."

Barack Obama has kept his promises to you. He makes up rules as he goes along. He enters treaties with foreign nations with no intention of allowing the Senate to approve or not. He is now in process of buying an old prison in Illinois with plans to move the terrorists from Cuba to the U.S. where they will be granted full constitutional guarantees and protection. Don’t be surprised when they are also placed onto a pathway to citizenship along with twenty million Hispanics who invaded our country and stole from us.

I called him liar. You challenged me to prove it. I pointed out one of his lies. His promise for complete transparency in government. He said the health care bill would be debated on C-Span. Yet every thing he’s had done by his lackeys in Congress has been hurried, unread, done behind closed doors, acted on during night time hours and never explained to anyone before passage and his quick signature. He is a liar. But then you still don’t believe me.

He promised fairness and the end of favoritism in government. The fact is that he has been paying off his friends in the unions and community organizers with our tax money. He violated the law by giving substantial ownership of General Motors to the labor union which controls their factories. He is destroying our economy and using what money is available to pay off political debts. It appears now that he may have followed through on his deal with Hillary Clinton to pay off almost six million dollars of campaign debts she incurred in her losing campaign against him. With our money.

But you love him. You said he has such dreamy eyes. You said he is brilliant. A great orator. You called him the "gracious god" Obama. You said I was a racist because I refused to support him. By the end of this year we may have a national debt in excess of 14 trillion dollars. Trillion. With a "T". That comes out to $437,500 for each and every one of us including the illegal aliens who, of course, won’t have to pay. You and I. We’ll pick up their share.

The interest on the debt alone will crush us. We have no manufacturing capacity. That went for NAFTA. Our farming industry is being wiped out by huge corporate farming whose main task now is to feed the world, not us. The remaining wealthy entrepreneurs who chaired the offices of chief executive grab their golden parachutes and jump off shore to place their money in protected bank accounts in foreign countries. You know why that is? Because we treat foreign countries better then we do our own.

We will never be able to pay off this debt. And when the new landlord comes to call, where will your "gracious god" be then? His goal is still to be dictator of the world. He would never be happy leading a crummy, broken little country like the former United States of America..

You were a part of the problem. And you still are if you have not awakened to what we did as a nation in November of 2008. You are still a part of the problem if you are not yet awake to our need to fight to regain control of our government. It still works, but you have to be willing to move the levers, push the buttons and haul the load. And sitting by while Congress refuses to do its job and the courts pass laws which they are not supposed to do and the office of the president is nothing but a collection of financial war lords with no constitutional authority won’t get the job done

Where is your vision, America? Where is your common sense? What happened to that fire in your bellies which made us the greatest nation in history? Why have you come to think that government is the only thing that can save you? When did you forget that this was a nation of laws, with a government of the people, by the people and for the people? When did you lose your connection with the God who gave you liberty as well as life? When are you going to do something about it? Where are your guts?

Who Is TPS?

"Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about ten - fifteen years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.
We demand and then codify into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people we know they can never pay back? Why?

We learn just days ago that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has "loaned" two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the 700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past September. Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of "we the people," who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.

We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy. Why?

We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?

We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman. Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?). We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?

Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, social security is nearly bankrupt, as is medicare and our entire government, our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about) — the list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x ten. And we are at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same religion, who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.

And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla, Alaska. All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No? Oh of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more imporant.)

Mr. Obama's winning platform can be boiled down to one word: change.

Why?

I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now.

This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.

And that is only the beginning. And I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his "brown shirts" would bully them into submission. And then, he was duly elected to office, a full-throttled economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department by department, person by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, where they were taught what to think. How did he get the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe, and across the world.

He did it with a compliant media — did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and ... change. And the people surely got what they voted for.

(Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.)

Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though.

Don't forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe. It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And in less than six years — a shorter time span than just two terms of the U.S. presidency — it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.

As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I canbelieve what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong by closing my eyes, having another latte, and ignoring what is transpiring around me.

Some people scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or both. Perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe–and why I believe it.

I pray I am wrong. I do not think I am."

TPS November 2008

The foregoing essay was posted by a commenter, known only as TPS,
following the 2008 national elections. According to Snopes.com it has
been erroneously attributed to others. Now, almost a year after the
election and nine months after the essay first appeared as a comment
posted to Pat Dollard's blog, we still don't know who wrote this very
insightful and dire comparison with history.

Where are you TPS? More importantly, who are you? Many of us would
like to say, "Thank you."

Open Letter to Republicans, Independents and Conservatives in the U.S. Congress

It appears that you are not going to give up until you lose the entire show. Your staunch position of wanting to negotiate with the Democrats and the liberals of your own party gives away the weakness of that position and its hopelessness.

Some say, "Health care reform continues to dominate the agenda in Washington – and rightly so. We need a comprehensive approach to ensure Texans and all Americans have access to affordable care. This is one of the most important changes we can make to improve quality of life and it requires a thoughtful, deliberative debate and bi-partisan solutions."

Why does health care require debate and bi-partisan solutions? Why can you not see that it is government interference in health care that is the problem?

Had the government refrained from interfering in the automobile manufacturing business General Motors would not be a government owned company today. If both Bush and Obama has tended to the rightful business of the presidency Chrysler would probably still be an American company today. If Congress had kept out of the corporate welfare business and the political election pay back business the United States would not be facing the most horrendous deficit of its history.

And yet you continue. The House of Representatives recently passed the so-called Cap & Trade legislation which is nothing but an enormous tax on the American people, one which will ultimately destroy our economy thereby delivering it up to the whims of Barack Obama and the Social/Democrat party.

Now you want to mess around with health care. You want to try your untrained hand at delivering health care services. Why? You don’t know what you’re doing. Stop it. Get the House of Representatives back to doing what it should be doing and get it out of the business of medicine before it is too late for all of us.

A recent report said, "A bipartisan approach to this problem is our best bet at meaningful reform. Changes to our health care system will have an enormous impact on every single American, and it is absolutely essential that the reforms we implement are appropriate and properly designed."
Our best bet? I will bet on the doctors, nurses, medical assistants and the privately owned and competitively operated American health care system over Congress any day of the week.

"Absolutely essential? Just as it was absolutely essential that the so-called stimulus bill be passed without reading it? Without knowing where the money was going? Or how much would be spent? And when?

And what exactly do you think appropriate and properly designed means? Members of Congress, most of whom have never run a business of any kind and most of whom have no medical training or experience whatsoever are going to design a health care delivery service?

Stop this insane tinkering with our health. Stop this idiotic tampering with our republic. Stop second guessing us. Stop pandering to the liberal interests of both political parties.

STOP NEGOTIATING! YOU ARE ABOUT TO GIVE AWAY THE STORE!

Use your best efforts at thwarting the Democrats, not aiding and abetting them. Use your influence to change their vote instead of seeking out how to best allow them to change yours. America does not need its medical services industry changed. It is the finest health care delivery service in the world. The best that has ever existed. And if Congress will leave it alone, it can only get better.

There are matters which should be given the attention of legislators the country over, including you. But so far, you haven’t even looked at them. So far you have only asked yourselves, "How can we cooperate with the man in the White House? How can we show our bi-partisanship?"

How about showing some leadership for a change? How about leaving some hope for America to remain free, independent and productive instead of overseeing its repugnant slide into socialism and tyranny?

Welcome To One Party Government!

WE are going to have government mandated, owned and controlled health care shoved down our throats just as we had the so-called stimulus package shoved down our throats. Why? Because the Republicans have joined Obama and his Democrats.

Remember when Obama said in regard to the so-called economic crisis that only the government could repair the damage? Did you notice that the Republicans quietly agreed? Did you notice in fact that it was the Bush administration which jumped on board first to give the automobile industry it first national gift of money?

Well pay attention to the so-called health crisis. Obama says that the problem is so severe that the only the government can straighten the system out. The Democrats say that a national health care system is the only solution. And now, in regard to health care, the Republicans say, "Congress must address these problems in order to provide affordable and accessible health care to all Americans."1

Why? When in the hell did every problem in our country whether real or imagined become the sort of problem that only the government is capable of repairing? If your answer is, "When Obama was elected" you would be incorrect.

If your answer is that George Bush’s White House in 2002 ". . . began an intensive effort to build, launch and manage a diverse portfolio of government-to-citizen, government-to-business and government-to-government websites" which were charged with the responsibility of providing "high-quality solutions" such as "benefit information delivery," among others. Those benefits were determined to include medical information and triage services for citizens, your answer would still be wrong.

During the Second World War, Franklin Roosevelt decided that in order for some aircraft manufacturers to continue receiving contracts to build airplanes for the U.S. Army Air Corps they would also have to pay all of the medical expenses of their employees. Many contractors, among them North American, protected it’s profits by agreeing to FDR’s demand. Did the exaltation of government’s role in life take over at that time? Again, wrong.

It started when the fascists took over our government. Although I can’t pin point the time, clearly Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson were two of the national progressives who lead the country down the socialist path.

For a time, most notably during the Reagan years we all thought that we had a choice between big government and small government. But we were really only dreaming dreams of old then. The plot had already been laid. Mr. Reagan only gave us "comic relief" from the strides fascism was making. We now live in a time when the members of both parties in government and out say to us that government and only government can fix all of our problems.

So the Republicans now confess that they too believe the contract between a citizen and his doctor can and must be interfered with by the government. That only through the intervention of Obama’s minions with the assistance of the GOP can health care costs be brought into line with what the government determines those costs ought to be. So, we all will be subjected to government operated socialized medical care whether we like it or not.

Why? How is it that government should have a right not granted to it in the U.S. Constitution to interfere in decisions regarding the medical condition of our own bodies? You might note that the reasoning behind the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade was because a woman has the sole right to make decisions about her own body, even though that decision might pose serious harm to the body of another - her unborn child.

How is there not a conflict here? Well, no matter, unless you think that nationalized health care has something to do with quality of care, improvement of services, patient comfort and well being. It has nothing to do with those things anymore than gun control has to do with safety or law enforcement. Much as the government has declared that only it can solve the banking problems and that its management of the automobile industry will produce better cars, it has only to do with the control of people.

Gun control means control of law-abiding citizens. Control of the automobile manufacturing industry means control of management and the subjugation of investors in order to favor the interests of labor unions. Control of the banking business provides the vast financing required by the government to operate all of its programs without oversight by the people. And control of health care is the ultimate control of who gets health care and who doesn’t. That translates into who lives and who dies. The result is the life and death control of all the people with the entire weight and might of the federal government including its police and military forces to make sure their socialist plan runs as they choose.

This on going national discussion we are having is not about health care. It is not about health care costs. It is not about improving anyone’s lot in life except those sitting in the top ranks of government. For those of you out there who believe that Obama is going to make your car payment for you, buy the gasoline to run it, provide you with a job and a pay check to buy food, I sure hope you don’t get seriously ill. Because whether you know it or not, you will become a very big liability for Mr. Obama’s type of government. And you are likely to learn that big liabilities have a way of being terminated as early as possible under his system.

Anyone with access to a calculator knows that communism cannot succeed for long. And call it what you like, communism, socialism, fascism, progressivism or collectivism is what Obama and the Democrats have now forced upon us. They didn’t do it alone. They were helped with possibly more than one half of the American electorate. More than fifty percent of the votes cast in the 2008 national elections were by people who believed Obama’s lies about hope and the kind of change he was promising. And they didn’t stop there.

I have always said that our government still works and works well. I can’t say that anymore because it is now a broken and failed system. It used to be that if enough people contacted their representatives in government that the government would follow the will of the people and things would be okay. That is no longer true because everyone in government has now joined the same party. They all subscribe to the belief that government is not only the agency that should control our lives but is the only agency capable of running our lives.

You must remember that in the eyes of governmentalists you and I are too ignorant to manage our own affairs. So when I write my guy in government to say I am against the Economic Stimulus Bill, he writes back to thank me for my letter and to say he agrees with me and he will continue to work to get the amount of the stimulus held at a reasonable level. When I say vote against national health care, he explains how government MUST respond to the problem. He might as well have added "whether I like or not."

The Democrats have sixty votes in the Senate to stop any filibuster, to move any question, to win every vote. The Democrats in the House of Representatives are correctly assuming they are representing the will of their constituents since the voters never call in to say Stop It! The bottom line is that the majority of the people in the United States today has decided that communism is okay, that we can all stand in a big circle, each of us with one hand in our neighbor’s pocket and somehow or other we will all get rich.2

And while the big shots in Washington, D.C. are deciding how to carve up the big pie, we call each other names, hurl insults at each other and stupidly suggest that a new revolution has started and won’t-they-be-sorry-when-we-get-through-with-them sort of rhetoric.

When I started to write this a few days ago, my heart and my mind were filled with lofty thoughts of how I might bend the opinions of people and how they might rise up in a telephonic, electronic, FAXic and postal tsunami that would wash the liberalism and the progressivism out of the halls of Congress thereby saving our medical care system for us and for private industry. But I was not considering the capitulation of the GOP. We have no one in national government to represent us. The Socialist-Democrats, the fence-riding, so-called Independents and the Progressive-Republicans form the various caucuses of one giant party of governmentalists which is, as I write this, shoving socialized medicine down our throats.

What do you have to say about it?

1. Congressman Pete Olson, May 18, 2009
2.  Thanks to the late Paul Harvey whose words I used here.

When Government Turns Against Its Own

Dr. Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s propaganda minister, rose to power in 1933 along with Hitler and the Nazi party. One of his first acts was the burning of books rejected by the Nazis. With totalitarian control over the media, arts, and information in Germany, Goebbels perfected the "Big Lie" technique of propaganda. Followers were taught the principle that a lie, if big enough and repeated a sufficient number of times, would be believed by the masses.

From the beginning of his tenure, Goebbels organized attacks on German Jews and other dissidents, accusing them of acting like terrorists and attempting to destroy Germany. It became the Nazi’s excuse for taking totalitarian power over all of Germany and murdering millions of civilians.

What’s that you say? It can’t happen here? Obama’s chief of Homeland Security has already charged that many of us are terrorists because we appose abortion, believe in the Second Amendment, are against illegal immigration and some have even served in the armed forces and have become radicalized by the experience. We are dissidents. And we have already been targeted by our own government. Can’t happen here? Nonsense.

Through Thomas Jefferson’s reading of history, he was convinced "that most bad government results from too much government." During the 1930s and early 1940s Germany had too much government. We now have too much government. And it is turning on us.

How can a government turn on its own people? Well the short answer is that it can’t. Government is very much like a gun. It cannot act on its own. A gun must be picked up, loaded and fired by a human being to have any effect. Likewise government must be loaded with people and picked up by those people in order to have any effect. And when the people holding the government have agendas clearly opposite to that of the electorate, it turns on its own people.

Obama appointed Janet Napolitano to be the head of Homeland Security. Under her direction, a lie was spread through the government’s propaganda devices. A lie about us. About all those who dare to disagree with Obama and the view of his extremely liberal Democrats. Those Democrats and their supporters, which includes some Republicans, will, of course, say that they won the election. That the victory in November of 2008 proved that most Americans agree with them.

This pathetic claim ignores the enormous disappointment felt by millions of Americans in the performance of the Republican party during the preceding sixteen years. The Democrat victory in November of 2008 expressed two things. American voters wanted to chastise the GOP for their malfeasance and they wanted to believe in the hollow promises of hope and change given them by a black candidate, the very essence of change in American politics.

There was no great upheaval or majority of voters who wanted their government to take on the characteristics of an earlier, notorious and failed government of fascists. Few voters, if any, went to the polls hoping taxes would be raised, freedoms would be curtailed and that those elected to government would turn against them once in office. But here we are. Those that voted for them and those who voted against them are all in the same boat. The elitists have taken up control of the government and they are aiming it at us.
